Going to college is a rite of passage for many teens. One common thing that most students around the world share is that they will be living on campus in student housing. As new residents of student housing are moving in, so are the pests but thankfully, there are a wide variety of things that any student can do to for pest control.
This pest is typically attracted to food that’s been left out and standing water so the best way that you can keep cockroaches our of student housing is to keep your rooms clean. It’s especially important to remove all boxes once you’ve moved in because; cockroaches are also attracted to boxes as well.
If your cockroach problem persists you should invest in some cockroach traps that you can buy from any store. It’s also a good idea to invest in over the counter bug spray as well too.
Almost everyone has to deal with ants sooner rather than later. You can eliminate this pest by using products that you already have in your room.
Sprinkle talcum powers around the areas of your room where you see ants coming in. The powder will act as a barrier that the ants won’t want to cross.
Mix mouth wash with bay leaves then empty this mixture in a small bowl and leave in the cabinet with your flour or sugar. For whatever reason, ants hate this mixture and will avoid it.
Never place your luggage or clothing on your bed. This might be tempting, especially if you live in a small apartment but it’s necessary since bed bugs “hitch hike” on your clothing or luggage from one location to another.
You can also avoid bed bugs by using mattress covers for mattress and box spring plus never take your pillow with you on vacation then bring it back because, that’s one of the easiest ways for a bed bug to make it into your bed.
